All of the following walks are expected to last for two to three hours (unless stated). There is no need to book, just turn up at the meeting point.
Saturday 12th July - RSPB Rye Meads Reserve. Meet at 10 am at Rye House train station. There is no charge for non RSPB members at this reserve. Come for the morning, or bring lunch and stay all day (with the London Natural History Society). Mid summer is a very quiet time for birds, but the re will hopefully be Kingfishers breeding on the reserve, and we will also look at the ducks (now in dull 'eclipse' plumage), and an other wildlife we find (if it is a sunny day there should be a good selection of dragonflies and butterflies to be seen).
Sunday 17th August - Sewardtone Marsh - Meet in the Swan and Pike pool car park at the south end of Ordnance Road , Ponders End, at 9am. Autumn migration will be well under way, and this area, with plenty of scrubby bushes is often a good place to find migrant warblers and o the r birds. The number of birds will largely be dependant on how the wea the r conditions have been, but the re is usually something of interest.

General Information. Unless stated all walks are on level ground and are expected to last for between 2-3 hours (although there is often the opportunity to stay for longer). Bring Binoculars, and wear clothing and footwear suitable for the weather conditions. Anyone is welcome on our walks, regardless of previous experience – we will always do our best to help beginners with identification, or answer any other queries if we can. There is no need to book, and , there is no charge for the walks - although a small donation is appreciated to help cover costs of producing leaflets like this one (if you would like to give one), and there is an entrance fee payable at Rainham Marshes if you are not a member of the RSPB.
